Our way to a sustainable future

Nutrition plays an integral part in the sustainability of animal agriculture. Feed additives can improve animal health and increase the efficiency and sustainability of animal food production.

For us, sustainability means even more than the improvement of the climate impact of our company in general. The greatest impact on sustainability comes from our products.”
Bruno Kaesler
Managing Director

With more than 90 years of experience in animal nutrition and the feed-food value chain, our full commitment to quality and our powerful research & development, we understand and tackle the challenges of sustainability facing the industry. We identify the opportunities for improvement, and have the tools, our high-tech products, our strong research & development, and a full range of services to close cycles in the production of food.
This is where we really make a difference.

Be inspired by our solutions to preserve the planet for a better future.

Our sustainability vision

With our safe and high-quality feed additives, we

  • improve animal welfare and health,
  • meet individual nutritional requirements, and
  • increase the resource efficiency and sustainability of animal food production.

Sustainability is at the top of our agenda for the coming years and is an integral part of our strategy.

Feed additives are currently the most powerful tools to make agriculture more sustainable. With our products, we have already been making a significant contribution to sustainability in agriculture for years, for example with our enzymes, antioxidants and drinking water applications.

The circular food system

Kaesler Nutrition is active in a circular food system where crops, animals, manure / waste and land / water are closely interlinked, have an impact on each other and form a cycle. Waste or unusable products from one part of the cycle are used by another.

We are convinced that Kaesler Nutrition can make a big impact in the circular food system by closing the cycle in animal nutrition, focusing on the three core components of sustainability:

  • animal health & welfare,
  • needs-based nutrition and
  • resource efficiency.

We go one step further by offering products that provide benefits to a sustainable agriculture.

We are passionate about helping our customers with our product solutions, services and our knowledge to reduce the impact of their animal protein production on our climate.

Our contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals

Based on the corporate strategy of Kaesler Nutrition and the results of the materiality analysis, we have identified seven major Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the highest relevance for us and our partners, and to which we contribute the most. We align our action, products and services in particular with those SDGs agreed by the United Nations.

We contribute to more sustainable agriculture by increasing efficiency in food production. This leads to a direct improvement in soil and water quality and more sustainable agriculture in general.

The health and safety of our employees is important to us. Therefore, we offer different tools to create a sustainable working environment for the workforce.

We evaluate employees & candidates based on their performance & behavior – independently from gender, age, religion, health condition, social background, ethnic origin or sexuality.

With our strategy, we continue the decades-long tradition as pioneers in animal nutrition. Our strategic goal is to develop the company sustainably and ensure secure jobs in the long term.

We focus on the use of sustainable and natural raw materials in our products.
With the help of our products, we close the cycles of agriculture by reducing food losses.

We contribute to combating climate change and its impacts to reduce the environmental footprint in the feed value chain - from reusable packaging material to reducing waste, travel & consumables.

We research and work on solutions that help find alternatives for industrial fishing and aquaculture to counteract overfishing of the oceans and reduce CO2 emissions.

Our four sustainable commitments

  • Responsibility for Climate & Energy

We contribute to combating climate change and its impacts through targeted measures to reduce the environmental footprint in the feed value chain.

At Kaesler Nutrition our aim is to lower emissions throughout the whole value chain, improve recycling management and generate less waste, reduce travel and material consumption.

    • Waste & recycling management
    • Energy consumption
    • Water consumption
    • CO2 footprint
    • Material consumption
  • Social Responsiblity

Social sustainability is often neglected compared to measures related with environmental sustainability. However, people are the most valuable resource of each company. The approach and the impact a company has on its employees, the society and stakeholders is of great importance and covered in the SDGs of the UN.

    • Modern working environment
    • Social engagement & regional commitment
    • Occupational health and safety
    • Diversity, equality and non-discrimination
    • Training & education
    • Freedom of association and collective bargaining
  • Corporate Governance

Kaesler Nutrition stands for fair competition, observes antitrust and competition laws and tolerates no corruption in the company or by the employees. We are convinced that responsible corporate governance is the key to long-term economic success, profitability and social acceptance.

    • Compliance management
    • Anti corruption management
    • Tax governance
    • Risk analysis & management throughout the value chain
    • Reporting
  • Efficient & Sustainable Agriculture

At Kaesler Nutrition we make a major contribution towards sustainable agriculture. Our products increase efficiency in food production and help meet individual nutritional requirements, in turn leading to higher product quality. Improved animal health and well-being and superior resource efficiency are accompanying benefits.

Using our Loxidan antioxidants, for example, can help save significant amounts of by-products that would otherwise go to waste, while using our Enzy enzymes saves considerable quantities of monocalcium phosphate (MCP) in monogastric feed formulations.

Product responsibility is also high on our list. With our Quality & Trust programme, we go beyond normal quality assurance schemes with the aim of reducing the amount of customer complaints and returns.

Project “Clean Fish”

Kaesler Nutrition is laying the foundation for the entry into cellular agriculture. The project aims at finding an alternative to industrial fishing & aquaculture to protect marine biodiversity, counteract overfishing of the oceans and reduce CO2 emissions. This method can save up to 90% of raw materials.

Drinking Water Applications (DWA)

Our Lovit range ensures that the animals receive a targeted, flexible supply of nutrients in situations where they need them most (e.g. growth, change of housing, before transport, vaccination, stress, infections). Use Lovit for quick, effective and stress-free administration, with no residues in the drinker system.

Enzymes

Enzymes such as Enzy by Kaesler Nutrition improve the digestibility of nutrients or allow nutrients to be released and digested by the animal. This makes it possible to reduce the energy content of the feed while maintaining the supply of digestible energy at the recommended level. Use Enzy to make the most of your feed.
